I find that I'm using them less often, but one thing I haven't effectively replicated digitally is my habit of writing notes on the back of business card. For most people I meet in professional settings I can recall (by reading my notes) when and where we met and sundry other notes of interest.

Digital contact management tends to democratize the data. I'm sure that personalization and metadata annotation is possible, I just haven't seen a social networking system take advantage of it yet.

It's ironic you say that - I was just looking at my box of cards today and surprised at how few I've had to use in the last few months!

I agree that referral marketing and networking are great ways to build a network of trust that can lead to strong business relationships. This is especially important in today's lagging economy. I recently found a great site called Referral Key that helps small businesses build a trusted referral network. It has worked great for me so far, as I have started to grow my trusted network and have already exchanged many qualified leads.

Good post, too bad that it is always the common sense items like this proper way to run a meeting that so many people have problems. Surprisingly many of the managers I have dealt with are the worst at having runaway meetings that take too much time and don't accomplish much.

Been using Nuevasync to Sync Google Calendar with my iPhone calendar for about 3 days, with no problems so far. Setting it up required above average technical skills, however, and the set up process needs a serious usability overhaul.

I wonder how much battery juice Nuevasync is using, though, because there doesn't seem to be a way to control how often it forces the iPhone to call in for Calendar updates. Anyone have any idea?

Well, the important thing is that you're not paying for it! (Although I have the sneaking suspicion they will start charging for this service at some point, but hopefully early adopters get a discount!)

I'm glad you posted this though... when I first tried it, they made you enter your Google password and it just didn't work. I see that they now use the Google API to add access the "right" way, and it's working beautifully for me now!

Now, if only Windows Mobile supported multiple calendars :P

Whoops, sorry, guess you already answered my question. Google Apps rawks... my email server crashed a while back during a brownout; I decided to move to Apps and haven't looked back since!
